Today's Daily Devotional for Women - You Will Receive Your Due

Godlywood Girl Motivational Quote

Bible Verse of the Day

2 Corinthians 5:10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Today’s Daily Devotional for Women

A little while ago, I was talking to a young woman who wanted to start her own business. She had an idea for a prototype, stayed up at night planning what it would look like, and spent countless hours figuring out how she would do it.

She knew God had given her this vision for her life, and she wanted to use her gifts of manufacturing to help other women of Christ turn their product ideas into a prototype.

She was very passionate about this business idea.  So naturally I was curious why she was currently working in a field that was the complete opposite of her passion.

She sighed and began explaining to me that there was an expectation in her family that she would complete a degree in the sciences and get a job in the medical field.  She didn’t love the career. She wasn’t passionate about medicine.  But it’s what her family wanted.

So I tilted my head and thought about that answer a moment. It’s what her family wanted.  But what about what God wanted?  Our heavenly Creator. The God who gave us breath and formed us in our mother’s womb with a specific purpose for our life?

She couldn’t answer.  She’d never allowed herself to think about how she might be disappointing God. She’d never allowed herself to sit down and ask Him what He thought about her career choice.

She’d never thought to ask.

So today, in this devotional, I’m challenging you to ask God what He thinks about the choice you’ve made.

Have you decided to follow your God-given dream and achieve the purpose He’s created for your life?

Or have you decided to follow the expectations of your family and loved ones so you don’t ruffle any feathers?

I don’t envy either choice.  Either way, you will ruffle some feathers.  When I was 18, I made the choice to follow my God-purpose instead of what others expected of me, and it took YEARS before those people began to respect my career choice.

It’s not easy to go against the grain.  But here’s the thing. If you live your life according to the limitations of other people, you won’t be able to see the unlimited success God created for you.

And when you get to judgment day and appear before Christ, all those people who set those limitations for you are nowhere to be found. It’ll be you and you alone held accountable for what you did with the gifts God gave you.

It’s up to you to decide whether you’re going to give yourself permission to go after the legend God intended for you, or whether you’re going to follow the standards that your parents, your friends, your boss, other people in your life tell you to live by.

Your purpose is inside you.  It’s in your gut instinct, your talents and gifts and abilities. It’s there were your joy is, where your passion is.

Are you going to stifle it because someone else said it’s not good enough? Or are you going to unleash it because God said you ARE great enough to succeed.

Whatever choice you make, you’re going to have to give account to God for it. So why not give yourself permission to live with passion and embrace the gift God put inside you?

It’s yours for the taking.
