Hey it’s your girl Stephanie Rodnez; Founder and CEO of Godlywoodgirl and Creator of the Godlywoodgirl School of Business. I am super excited to show you how to start your own t shirt business online for zero dollars. Mm hmm. So if that's you hit that subscribe button and let's dive into how you can start your t- shirt business for zero dollars as a Christian entrepreneur in 2019.
Step 1: Create Your Lead Magnet
So step number one is to create a digital lead magnet to attract your audience to your new business. Now a lead magnet is simply a digital asset that you give away for free in exchange for somebody's email address. This is how you build an audience online. One of the biggest mistakes that we make as Christian entrepreneurs is that we assume that God's going do the marketing for us when in reality, we have to give God something to bless. And the best way to do this is to build your audience before you even start selling products. Email lists are the way to do that.
An email list is a database of people who have said that they are interested in what you do in your business sis. And you can build that list for free by creating a lead magnet that attracts your potential audience and giving it to them in exchange for their email address. So for example, if I'm somebody who wants to build a business, creating natural dog food, then I'm going to create a lead magnet that is the Five Step Checklist to Find out If Your Dog Food is Natural, right? And then I'm going to promote it on social media in places where I know people who have dogs literally hang out until I'm able to build my email this by giving it to them for free. So you can do the exact same thing for your t- shirt business.
Step 2: Create a Landing Page
Once you have created a lead magnet, you're going to set up a landing page where you can give somebody that lead magnet for free in exchange for their email address. This is also known as a squeeze page, an opt- in page, or a landing page. There's a lot of different names for it online. But basically it is the web page where somebody can enter in their email address to receive your lead magnet. The reason why you want to make sure that this is set up first is because let's say you put out a post on social media and it goes viral, right? If somebody doesn't have a place to give you their email address, right then you have just lost all of the people who saw that viral post. Whereas if you already had your landing page set up, then when they read that viral post and you say, “I Also Have This Free Checklist That Will Help You Find Out If Your Dog food Is Natural”, they can click it and right away give you their email address and now you have their email sis.
Now that is a person who said they're interested in learning from you. Okay, this is how you build your lists online. So you can use MailChimp to set this up for free. MailChimp has a free landing page feature absolutely incredible. And it's free up until your first 2000 subscribers or your first 12,000 emails that you send. There are a lot of other software's that you can use to build a landing page, I use Clickfunnels. I also use ConvertKit. Step 3: Marketing
Once you've created a lead magnet, now it's time to promote your lead magnet to people on social media. This is called marketing. Marketing is putting the right message in front of the right person at the right time that they're looking for it. So the message of your lead magnet is what you're going to put in front of your potential customers that they can get that lead magnet and now join your email list. So now you're building your audience Praise God. So you can use social media to do this. You can use YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, or Twitter. You can use all of these social media platforms for free in order to create promotional lead magnet, you just have to know where to look to find your potential customers. And again, in the School of Business, I show you how to find your audience on social media and promote your lead magnet to them for free. And here actually is what the beauty of starting your own t shirt business for zero dollars because you're using social media for free. Social media praise God is available to all of us. It doesn't charge you for you to post for you to put out your YouTube videos for you to share content. So use it to be able to have people opt-in to your landing page and get your lead magnet and this is how you're going to be able to build your own email list for free.
Step 4: Market Research
Now that you have built your email list, and I recommend at least 1000 people on your email list before you take this step. Ask your audience what they want from you. You're going to say: “hey, sis thank you so much for being on this list. I now want to create a series of T shirts that empower you to whatever needs you you're in. And I wanted to know what kind of shirts you want me to make for you”. And they will tell you what shirts that they want. So you're not guessing at building a T shirt collection and trying to find people to buy it, you are literally building a T shirt collection for the people who have already told you they want to learn from you. How incredible is that. So you're going to get all that market research, you're going to let them tell you what kind of shirts they want.
Step 5: Build your Collection
And then step number five, you're going to actually build your collection and give them what they want. Now, if you want to do this for free, make sure you use a print-on-demand business model. What this means is that the company will allow you to design your shirt, upload your shirts, start selling your shirt and you don't get charged anything until you make the sale. They charge you the cost of printing the shirt and shipping it to your customer. But you don't have to pay anything upfront in order to design the shirt and actually start selling the shirt. It's absolutely incredible. And there are a lot of print on demand t shirt business models out there. There's Printful which is what I use. There's Teespring, Teelaunch, Spreadshirt, and a ton of different options. At the Godlywoodgirl School of Business, I teach you how to use most of these options. I think there are 10 that I demo for in the School of Business, but choose whatever print on demand business model that you can that you like, in order to create your t- shirt collection. One of the biggest mistakes I've seen new entrepreneurs make is that they order all this inventory. So they come out of pocket like two grand for all these printed shirts, and they haven't built an audience of people to buy them yet. Don't do that. Build your audience first. Ask them what they want. Create the t- shirt line, design it based on what they want, and then offer to them print-on-demand. So you only spend money when you make money.
