Not Solving a Clear Problem
The first mistake is creating t- shirts that do not solve a clear problem. In any online business whether it's a t- shirt business, coaching business, an author who self- published his books, it doesn't matter the kind of businesses it is. Every single product needs to be a clear solution to a clear problem. People don't just buy stuff random, they don't just throw their money out the door, right? People purchase solutions to their problems. So you need to create a t- shirt collection that has a clear solution to a clear problem. This is the only way you're gonna be able to do effective marketing and find the right people to purchase your shirts. I can't tell you how many times I get DMS on Instagram where people are asking me: “Stephanie, how come people aren't buying my shirts”? And then I'll say: “what problem are you solving with your shirt”? Because how can we know who you're marketing to? And they say: “Well, I don't know. I just created pretty shirts”. Pretty shirts is not a problem that you solve. So you need to get really clear on the problem that you're solving with your t- shirts.

Spending too Much Money When Launching
The second mistake is spending too much money launching your t- shirt collection. I know that print-on-demand is a new business model that people don't know too much about. But anybody who is spending $10,000 $15,000 launching a t- shirt collection in 2020… I just don't know why. Because praise God with print-on-demand business models, you can launch a t- shirt collection for $0. I would rather you launch your t- shirt collection using print-on-demand business model and take that 15, $20,000 and do marketing. Don't spend that much money up front, launching your t- shirt business collection. You can go ahead and use a print-on-demand model just to start out and then as you get trashed, and if you want to start printing and manufacturing your own shirts, fine. Go for it awesome. But take that money upfront and invest it in marketing.
Marketing is telling the right people about the right message at the right time. So with your marketing money, you want to find the people who have the problem to solve with your t- shirt business and tell them that you're solving their problem with your t- shirt business. Spend your money on marketing, not on startup costs. I understand that a lot of us want to make our own shirts at home and enjoy the process. But sis, you are an entrepreneur, you are not doing this as a hobby. Go ahead and start your t- shirt business using a print-on-demand business model, which cost you $0 to start, and then take the rest of your money and put it into marketing. No Email List
And finally, the third biggest mistake that Christian entrepreneurs make when starting a t- shirt Business Online is not building an email list. Sis, email list are the biggest, most important asset that you will have as an online entrepreneur. Why? Because if social media closes tomorrow, and you don't have an email list, your Business also closes tomorrow. An email list is a database of people who have told you that they're interested in buying the types of t- shirts you're interested in selling. The way that you create this database is you create something called a lead magnet and you give it away for free in exchange for somebody's email address. Now you have this whole database of people that you can contact on demand anytime you want to. So if God forbid the algorithm on Facebook changes tomorrow nobody sees your stuff anymore. You can still contact your email list.
In addition, repeat business is one of the biggest streams of revenue for any online entrepreneur. But you don't get that repeat business, unless you can serve the same audience over and over again. The only way to do that is through an email list. You do it through email marketing, so do not start your t- shirt business and just think: “I'm going to sell this on Facebook ads and call it a day”…No! Build an email list of people who are interested in buying the types of shirts that you're interested in selling so that you can promote to them, market to them, and build a great relationship with them over and over again.
