In this video, we are going to talk about the ten reasons why you should start a Christian t- shirt business.
Hey my name is Stephanie Rodnez, Founder and CEO of Godlywoodgirl and my purpose in life is to connect you with the resources you need to achieve your purpose in life. That is why in this video, I’m super excited to share with you the ten reasons why you should a Christian t- shirt business. Make sure you grab a pen and paper, get your notepad, and let’s get started.
Reason 10: You Know God Purposed You To Be An Entrepreneur.
The tenth reason why you should start your own Christian t- shirt business is that you know that God purposed you to be an entrepreneur. Sis, listen starting an online business can be a little overwhelming. Especially if you are doing it the way I’m doing at Godlywoodgirl, with sales funnels, e-mail lists, and with marketing. But here is the great thing about having an online t- shirt business. There is something called print-on-demand and with this, you don’t have to hold inventory at all.
You design the shirt and then you upload the design to an actual shirt manufacturer and they only print the shirt whenever you make a sale. You are not holding inventory, you are not figuring out shipping cost, you are not figuring out manufacturing cost, you don’t have to have boxes of inventory in your house. It all happens on demand.
To me, starting a Christian t- shirt business is one of the easiest ways to start doubling your foot into entrepreneurship. The startup cost is low, you don’t have to have any money to start up if you use a printer like Printful.com or Teespring.com where you are only charged when you make a sale. When you do this, you get to focus on figuring whether entrepreneurship is your strong suit or not.
Reason 9: You Have A Passion For Fashion And Want To Use It For The Kingdom Of God.
The ninth reason is that you have a passion for fashion and you want to use it for the kingdom of God. There is a reason that God made you passionate about certain things. Romans 8:21 says: “all things work together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. If you are passionate about fashion, design, creating amazingly creative styles that people can wear, then a Christian t- shirt business is right up your alley.
It is an amazing way to get creative without having too much on your head like we talked about in the last point. It is also a way to exercise that God- given passion. Personally, I have always dreamt about having my own fashion line. I used to dream that I would have something called Stephanie Rodnez which is like a tribute to both my great grandparents. It is taken from both their names.
When the opportunity came for me to have my own Christian t- shirt business, I jumped on it. I was like: “absolutely”!!! It is such an easy way to get into the fashion industry. Do it in a way which is not super scary or overwhelming.
Reason 8: You Enjoy Looking At T- Shirt Designs and Find Yourself Taking Pictures of Really Cool Shirts.
The eighth reason is that you enjoy looking at t- shirt designs and you find yourself taking pictures of really cool shirts when you see them. This is a pretty big sign that you should have your own t- shirt business. I didn’t notice this when I was doing that until 2011, 2012.
Every single time I saw a really cool t- shirt business, I would get inspired and be like: “let me take a picture of this”. I used that as an inspiration image. Some of my friends were like: “why do you keep taking pictures of a stranger’s t- shirt? It is so weird”. I would always go up to strangers and be like: “where did you get that t- shirt”?
I saw it as an amazing way to express our faith through t- shirts. If you find yourself always looking at different t- shirt designs and you go like: “Oh, Stephanie, that James 1:25 Blessed t- shirt looks pretty hot! ... How did you get that … Let me take a picture of it… let me get an inspiration from it”, then, a Christian t- shirt business might just be right up your alley.
This is because, you have a natural eye for it so designing your own Christian business t- shirt line will add a new perspective to the industry.
Reason 7: You Don’t Hate Your 9-5 Job But You Know You’re Meant To Do Something More With Your Life, Like Having Your Own Business.
The seventh is that you hate your job. A lot of the time, when we who are called to be entrepreneurs, happen to be great employees. We are self- motivated, we know how to go above and extra because we want the same work to be done for our own business. However, even if we get promoted a lot and we have really nice salaries, we don’t want to work for other people.
We are naturally created to work for ourselves. If you’ve been somebody who does not like taking directions from people and you like doing your own thing, then you may probably be an entrepreneur sis. If you are and you’re not satisfied working a full time job and you want to have your own business, then a Christian t- shirt business is a great way to start.
Reason 6: You Enjoy Working Hard And Putting In A Lot Of Hours To Get A Task Done.
The sixth reason why you should start a Christian t- shirt business is that you enjoy working and you like putting in hours of work to see something done. If you like to work, you are not lazy, you don’t take shortcuts, you don’t like asking for something in place of nothing, and then a Christian t- shirt business is perfect for you.
Creating a Christian t- shirt business is not easy. Let me rephrase that; starting a Christian t- shirt business is very easy but selling a Christian t- shirt online is not easy. This is because it is a very crowded marketplace and there are a lot of different people in this industry. If you are not a person who likes to work you are not going to be able to do the marketing required to get your t- shirts sold.
So, it is probably not for you. However, if you love to work, to put in long hours, then put in the work. That is how I was even when I was a kid. When I got a job as a kid I loved going home to work on them instead of going to parties after class. I have always loved working. That’s why I have always been a great corporate employee. It is also the reason why my job was very sad when I decided to quit.
I love to put in work. Nobody had to ask me, I just love working. That is why having my own Christian t- shirt business worked in my favor. Now, I get to put in my hours marketing something that I created and the Lord allowed me to produce online.
If you love working and you love to put in hours, then a Christian t- shirt business might work very well for you.
Reason 5: There Are Literally 22,000 Searches for Christian T- Shirts Every Single Month.
The fifth reason why you should start a Christian t- shirt business is because there are 22,000 searches for Christian t- shirts online each month. Yes sis. If you go to google.com and you use a tool called keywords everywhere, it is a free plugin that you use on Chrome or Firefox.
It tells you the search volume for a keyword that people are looking for. If you type in the keywords “Christian t- shirts”, there are 22,000 searches per month for that keyword. That is an extremely big market. There are a lot of people looking for cool Christian t- shirt designs. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to add your voice to an already established market.
Reason 4: The Lord Has Given You A Unique Perspective Of Christian T- Shirt Design And You Can Add Something New To The Market.
The fourth reason why you need to start your own Christian t- shirt business is that the Lord has given you a unique perspective of Christian t- shirt design and you can add that perspective to the market. A good friend of mine Jade Forge, who was a student in my Godlywoodgirl Mastermind group in 2017, 2016 I believe. She launched her own Christian t- shirt and they were super unique.
They were not standard print-on-demand t- shirts like what I have here at Godlywoodgirl. She actually custom made the print, embellished them and she had a beautiful cut to each of them and they were so unique. It was her way of sharing the gospel of Christ. Her brand is called Heart from a King and I thought it was brilliant.
I was like: “you really are somebody who God purposed to have your own t- shirt business”. She had a unique perspective to add to the market. If you have a really cool idea that has not been done before and you know people will love, get into a Christian t- shirt business. It is such a low overhead business and I will tell you more about that in the next steps. But, it is a great way to add your unique perspective to an already established market.
Reason 3: You Never Seem To Be Able To Find Christian T- Shirts That You Really Like.
The third reason to start your own t- shirt business is if you never seem to be able to find Christian t- shirts that you want to wear. That is one of the reasons why I love making Godlywoodgirl t- shirts.
If I want to wear something, I just make it, print it and wear it like this James 1:25 Blessed t- shirt. I was having some issues with self- doubts and self- limiting beliefs. Then I was like: “you know what Stephanie, start wearing something that makes you feel blessed every time you wear it”. So I started looking for Christian t- shirts like that and didn’t find anything. So, I just created the Christian t- shirt that says Blessed; James 1: 25.
When you have an idea for something that you want to wear but it cannot be found, that is a great indication that you can start your own Christian t- shirt business. It is such an easy overhead to start your own t- shirt business ad you can print your shirt the way that you want, order them, and wear them.
That is what I do. I pretty much wear my own Godlywoodgirl shirts everywhere. My husband says I look like a cartoon character sometimes because I am always in a Godlywoodgirl shirt which is pink, black, white, and grey. I love wearing what I wear because it looks how I want it to look.
If you know shirts that you particularly want to wear which cannot be found, start your own Christian t- shirt business.
Reason 2: You’re Ready To Finally Start Taking Action And Launch Your Online Business But You Don’t Want To Spend A Lot Of Start-up Money To Do It.
The second reason why you should start your own Christian t- shirt business is that you know you want to start a business online but you don’t have a lot of money to do it. I have been looking forward to this step because I am going to explain how to launch your own Christian t- shirt business online.
Step one is to figure out the purpose of your business. Why does your Christian t- shirt business exist? For me, all the t- shirts that I make at Godlywoodgirl are to empower women to live their greatest purpose for Christ. That is why my t- shirts exist. So what is the purpose of your t- shirt business?
The second is to go ahead and create your designs based on that purpose. I always recommend doing market research for this. Create a number of different samples using canva.com, Photoshop, or by using any free resource that allows you to design online. Then, show them to your friends and your target demographics to see how they react.
The third is to choose your printing manufacturer. I use Printful.com. I love them because they are so easy to use. But there is Teespring, Teeprint, and a lot of other print-on-demand t- shirt businesses. Google print-on-demand t- shirts and you are going to find a list of different options. Choose your manufacturer, upload your images and order them. Take a look at them and if you like their quality, list them for sale.
You can take orders via PayPal, Shopify website, or a WordPress website, Wicks, you an even take orders on Cashapp, wherever you want.
You can take orders for your business. It is such a step-by-step process that is such a low overhead. It is really easy to do. If you know that you want to start a business but you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars getting it opened, then a t- shirt business sis a great way to do that.
Reason 1: You’re Tired of Procrastinating.
Finally, the number one reason to start a Christian t- shirt business is that you are sick and tired of procrastinating and you are ready to step into your purpose as an entrepreneur. My love, if you are ready to take action and to do the work as well as give God something to bless, then stop waiting.
This is your time, this is your season. One of the things that I always love to say is that: “there is no better time to be an entrepreneur than now”. There are resources that we have at our finger tips. Stop waiting, stop putting it off. Say YES to your God- given purpose and get started.
